2024

We know the finalists!

Another stage of the KAF Young Art Prize 2024 has ended! We've received 1597 applications, from which the jury selected 12 individuals whose works will be showcased at the final exhibition in June in Wrocław.

The KAF Young Art Prize is an international art competition for young artists working in the medium of painting. The competition is intended to support artists in the early stages of their careers. By awarding the prizes, KAF wants to enable them to explore new avenues and experiment without worrying about the immediate future. At the same time, the prizes are meant as a recognition of the most interesting new developments and explorations in the field of painting that have emerged over the past two years.

Several painting trends were clearly visible among the submitted works. Interestingly, their boundaries did not align with national borders – rather, they were common positions and directions of development, undertaken simultaneously in different countries. It can be seen that the circulation of artistic pursuits, even of very young creative people, has become very international, with artists from different countries seeking answers to similar questions and addressing the same universal problems.

The difficult task of selecting the finalists fell to a 6-member jury consisting of: Antoni Burzynski, Pola Dwurnik, Sylwia Krupa, Katarzyna Mlynczak-Sachs, Oleksandra Pogrebnyak and Aleksy Wojtowicz. The KAF Young Art Prize does not depart entirely from the competition formula, but introduces three equal prizes awarded to three winners – each of whom will receive €12,000! At the same time, all other finalists will receive an honorarium of 400 euros.

Ultimately, twelve creatives will be showcased in the finale

Kateryna Aliinyk, Andrej Maxim Auch, Martina Drozd Smutná, Wiktoria Kieniksman, Ant Łakomsk, Krystyna Melnyk, Krzysztof Mętel, Horacy Muszyński, Filip Rybkowski, Patryk Staruch, Kuba Stępień, and Emily Stevenhagen.

Grand finale

The conclusion of the first edition of the competition and the announcement of the financial award winners will coincide with the opening of the finale exhibition at the Krupa Art Foundation on Wrocław’s Market Square. The exhibition will open on June 15th, showcasing selected works from all the competition finalists.
